Okay girls, this one is for you. The most important day of our undergraduate year, or our graduation, is fast approaching for some of us. We have all worked very hard for four years to get to this point in our career, however, we are not the only ones graduating. There are going to be a couple hundred other people in your class with the same cap and gown as you, so everyone will be wearing the same thing. Well… except for one thing: THE SHOES!
Your shoes will be the way to stand out from the crowd one last time. I personally have been a little stressed about what pair I am going to wear for this day. This pair of shoes needs to be special, since they are going to be with me through one of the scariest and happiest events of my life. I know this is not a fashion show, where the most important thing would be what I am wearing, but this is my “Kendall Jenner” moment. All eyes are going to be on us as we strut across the stage to get that diploma. If you don’t believe me, do you remember what happened to Lizzie McGuire at her graduation? Yeah, I told you all eyes are going to be looking at you.
So how do we choose the perfect pair? Well, I think the most important thing when choosing your shoes is to find a pair that is both comfortable and symbolic. A lot of us make the mistake of buying uncomfortable, painful, tight shoes just because they are “super cute“. You’ll have to double think that, this time. You will be standing, walking, sitting, posing and moving around a lot. You will be miserable if you can’t stand your shoes. Also find a pair that screams your name; show off your personality with whatever pair you choose. There are no rules.
Here are some of my suggestions as to what you could wear!
Flats/ Sneakers/ Booties
You can wear flats, sneakers or booties, since wearing heels is not mandatory. This is YOUR day, so ditch the heels if you want. I promise it will not make you any less of a woman, so forget about what others think and wear whatever feels comfortable!
The Midi
I feel these are perfect, since they are not too high nor too low. I know many people consider this as a “grandma shoe” because of their height, but that’s crazy. This kind of shoes is so cute.

The Stiletto
If you are a daredevil, this shoe is your perfect match. You two were basically born for each other. I have to say this might be the most uncomfortable kind of shoe on the list, but it has its pros (ankle strap stilettos make you look longer). This is a classic; you will never go wrong with stilettos. Just make sure to practice before the big day because it could be a little tough to master.

The Platform
Walking in these is easier than the classic pump, because the weight of your body is more distributed. Therefore, you won’t have to worry about your feet bleeding because of all of the blisters on them. Since this can work as a very casual shoe, be bold and choose a color that is brighter than your future!

The Chunky Heel
If your shoes are not the same color as your gown, that’s totally fine! Like my mom told me, choose a pair that you know you will use after too, not just on that day. The chunky heel is having a big moment right now; we are seeing them all over the fashion industry. I love them because they don’t look as casual as a platform but they kind of give you the same support.

Lastly, get a pedi! If people are going to be looking at your shoes consequently, they’ll look at your feet as well. So treat yourself. Have fun looking for the perfect pair that fits you.
