Residents of Halewood came together to support a fashion show hosted by year 11 pupils to promote body confidence and celebrate the life of a former student.
Teachers and students of Halewood Academy took to the catwalk to show off a selection of dresses from Cinders dress store worth hundreds of pounds.
The money raised will go towards extending the memorial of Megan Hurley, the teen who died in the Manchester Arena bombing.
Vice Principal Josie Gallagher, who organised the event, said: “It’s about that empowerment, that it doesn’t matter the shape or size that you are, you’ve got to be happy with who you are.
“That’s what I want to get across to not only the year 11 girls, but also the girls across the school and the boys to be able to grow up as gentlemen.”
It is hoped that the money raised will allow the school to extend the memorial across more, if not all of the terraced areas, allowing students a quiet place to sit in memory of Megan.
The school hopes to make the fashion show an annual event and empower young men and women year on year.
Hundreds of people turned up to watch the event and see the pupils strut their stuff on the stage and show off their outfits and confidence.
Miss Gallagher said it is great to see staff and children come together and pull off an event like this.
She added: “It just shows the connection that staff and students have. To be a good teacher you’ve got to know the students you teach.”
The night was a huge success with parents saying they were inspired by what the school was doing to promote body confidence, especially amongst young women.

Jackie Grant said: “I thought it was absolutely brilliant and the school has improved massively. It definitely should be every year.”
Head Teacher, Gary Evans, who recently named an award after Megan, said it was great to see the community come together.
He added: “It has been an amazing event and it’s great to see students have so much fun but for such a good cause.”
