review 1: This book is a lot of fun and the characters are fun and have a lot of depth. There is a secondary romance that is also fun. Eden, the librarian, is far from your typical librarian. She is feisty and isn't afraid to get her hand dirty, even though she is technically an heiress. She's also a little stubborn. Levi, the blacksmith and convict, it a man who will win your heart. He's a giant, tough, yet tender and passionate man. He will pull at your heartstrings with his efforts to become the man God wants him to be. He make commitments and he keeps them. There is mystery and tension in the relationship between the Eden and Levi. The story is about forgiveness, acceptance and dealing with ones own hypocrisy. I gave this story 4 1/2 stars because it was a little too preachy fo... morer my taste. There is a lot of preaching about God's forgiveness and accepting that people change and can forsake their previous sinful life. I like a good clean romance and sometimes in order to get that you have to have the preaching included. I don't mind, but, sometimes the theme is repeated too much throughout the book. Overall, this is a sweet story about learning to accept others despite their mistakes and imperfections.
review 2: I LOVED this book! This novel singlehandedly made me laugh, cry, and cheer for the main characters. Karen Witemeyer did a fantastic job bringing life to this interesting set of characters. I loved this novel because it was a clean, historical fiction romance. Karen also ties in a Christian theme through the pages, one that I thought added to the story beautifully. I couldn't put this novel down. If you're looking for a clean romance with well-planned characters, an intriguing storyline, and a wonderful lesson, look no further than this book! Excellently done! less
