Hot Chocolate “Retro” Style.

Okay….Disclaimer #1….this recipe brings me waaaay back, hence “retro” style title. I remember making this with my mom and sister’s during the holidays when I was a little girl, which dates me into the 70’s & 80’s.  Disclaimer #2, in my opinion, the 80’s were the best!! You can’t convince me otherwise. We would make BIG batches of it and prepare Christmas gifts for friends and family. It is a fun memory for me and makes me feel all girl~ish again. I love my family…..so thankful that my parents provided us with a wonderful childhood.  Anyway, I digress….

My mom and I recently spent time in the kitchen together making some of our family faves and this was one of them!

So thankful that she shared this recipe with me…I know that there are probably hundreds just like them online, but from an old recipe card from my mom….I’ll cherish this one!!!

Picture above, pre-hot liquid…..but, I was ready!

Ah, the creaminess and chocolaty goodness! I can’t even…

Disclaimer #3…..I’ve halved the recipe that my mom used because, well, I wanted to.  I just made enough to use this Fall. You can double this recipe and store the extra in an airtight container for up to 6 months. Just sayin’.

  • 1/2 of 21.8 oz carton of Nesquik
  • 2 cups of powdered milk
  • 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
  • 8 oz of instant coffee creamer

Mix all of the ingredients together well and store in an airtight container. For a yummy cup of hot chocolate, heat water or milk and add 2 heaping tablespoons of hot chocolate mix to a mug. Pour the hot liquid over top and stir. You can top with marshmallows and shaved chocolate to sweeten the deal and then…..ENJOY!!!
