Catching up for a drink! Dining at Royal Vega, sheer opulence The Mylapore Food walk beings Posing with Vadu Maanga – Tender baby mango Filter Coffee, Mylapore style! Some elanda vadai (jujube ber) and shopping in Ambika Appalam Dinner at home for some south indian food

Divided by distance, connected by the love for food. This could possibly summarize my association with James Beard, Julia Childs, IACP awards winning Chef. Raghavan Iyer. He was in Chennai and I was in conversation with him -an event I put together at Hyatt Regency, Chennai. What stood out during my interaction with him was his ability to articulate the different flavours, textures and spices in Indian cooking. His process of internalizing every step in cooking, is remarkable. The 2 days he was in Chennai, were filled with conversation about food. We also indulged in some fabulous treats and of course, the Mylapore food trail that I put together for him. Here are some photos of his trip to Chennai and what we did.

If you’d like for me to put together a food trail for you that traces the culinary history of Chennai, do get in touch with me.
