I literally forgot to write my full review of this book because I’m busy by the time I finished it (New Year’s Eve). Early of 2017, I’ve read Vendetta which I’ve liked but not obsessed with it unlike the mafia books I’ve enjoyed. Honestly speaking, I’m hesitant on continuing this trilogy and it took me a while to convince myself on giving it a second chance. I’m glad I did because this sequel stepped up to its game. It’s more action-packed, thrilling and plot driven. The revelations were impressive. I’ll try my best to keep this review as spoiler-free as possible.
Inferno continues from the ending of the previous book. Sophie’s uncle Jack Gracewell was nowhere to be found and The Falcones are hunting him. Later on, they figured out Jack sought protection from the Falcone family’s rival, The Marinos. These two crime families are currently on truce but after the events from the previous book, the war between them resurfaced and Sophie Gracewell became the pawn in this game. She must choose where her loyalty lies before it’s too late.
What a ride. Props to Catherine Doyle for just making Vendetta a warm-up! This sequel has a better plot and more mafia aspect to it. We get to know how the rivalry between The Falcones and The Marinos began and new characters were introduced. Like Elena Falcone and Donata Marino, these two Mafia Queens have the scratch and claws and both are intimidating. I want to see these two have a showdown in the final book.
