So, the next book in line would have to be ‘Keeping it in the Family’ by Sinead Moriarty. I recently borrowed the book from the library. I got home and immediately started reading it. But I’ll be honest, it took me a while to actually get into the book. I’m starting to think that I’m losing my touch with the books.
Okay, me aside, the book follows the story of Irish-bred English Niamh O’Flaherty. After a series of unsuccessful relationships, she finally meets the man of her dreams, Pierre. For the two of them, it’s easy enough. They meet, they hit it off, they fall in love and they’re happily ever after is visible to them. But, happily ever after means facing the music. The parents have to be told, and the parents have to be convinced. And this might not be easy.
It is not very common to have a story whose plot is based a little more on the part about convincing the parents than the couple instead.
But having said that, the story is a pretty good one. The book is a great light read and a very interesting one at that.
For me, one thing I felt missing in the story was the emotion. While the story is nice and conveys the basic idea and even the basic emotions, for a story if this depth, I certainly felt like it did not have an impact on me. But hey, if this is what you’re looking for, this is the perfect light read with the happy ending.
I certainly enjoyed the story and the writing is neat and basic too.
