Kirk Brandon recently toured Australia, offering up a series of acoustic shows, accompanied by cello play Sam Sansbury. Brandon’s career defining moments have included fronting a host of groups including 80’s UK rock band Spear of Destiny, post punk band Theatre of Hate, early punk band The Pack and more recently the acoustic supergroup, Dead Men Walking.
The most recent project Dead Men Walking features an ever revolving cast of musical living legends from Simple Minds, Stray Cats, The Damned, The Ruts, Stiff Little Fingers and our very own Chris Cheney of The Living End.
The Melbourne leg of Kirk Brandon’s tour was ably supported locals The Krunchy Om-Let Experience (making punks songs pretty) and St Kilda’s very own punk veteran Paul Conroy (12FU). Lindsay MC Dougall (Frenzal Rhomb) also made a surprise appearance opening the show with acoustic renditions of Frenzal Rhomb songs interspersed with 80’s power ballads.
