Kismet

Macavity’s a Mystery Cat: he’s called the Hidden Paw –
For he’s the master criminal who can defy the Law.
He’s the bafflement of Scotland Yard, the Flying Squad’s despair:
For when they reach the scene of crime – Macavity’s not there!
——-
And they say that all the Cats whose wicked deeds are widely known
(I might mention Mungojerrie, I might mention Griddlebone)
Are nothing more than agents for the Cat who all the time
Just controls their operations: the Napoleon of Crime! (TS. Eliot, Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats)

I was tempted to write about the villainous cats in my life but my muse put its foot down.

Prompt  ….

Thank you Enisa for this week’s prompt.

An astrologer friend advised Tanya to wear a catseye. It would help her tide over the cascade of bad things that had turned her life upside down, he had said.

She did not really believe and in any case she was just making ends meet.

Her streak of hard luck continued. Her credit limit expired. It was the soup kitchen or the langar at gurudwara* in the foreseeable future.

Then the ginger adopted her.  It’s chatoyancy was better than any gem. Now that she had two genuine cat-eyes  her luck boomed.

Thank you Priceless Joy
