May Wrap Up

I read way less than I bought this month unfortunately, but I did read 8 books and found two new favourite series, kind of finished a favourite series and read two whole books for school. So accomplishments were made, I guess.

  • Saphirblau von Kerstin Gier
  • Macbeth by William Shakespeare
  • Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
  • Beneath Wandering Stars by Ashlee Cowles
  • Night Owls by Jenn Bennett

I actually DNF’d Beneath Wandering Stars at around 32 pages, which I am upset about as I was really excited to read it. Alas, the main character was annoying me greatly and I have too many other amazing books to read. I didn’t get around to reading Night Owls unfortunately as I had to move at the end of the month, but that’s okay.

  • Alight by Emma L. Adams is urban fantasy novel (pretty clean NA) about a dragon shifter living in a world where practically everyone despises her kind. One day her little sister gets kidnapped and she, along with her friends and an unlikely (and somewhat reluctant) ally plan to get her back. This is the first book in the Legacy of Flames series. I’m not quite sure where my thoughts on this one are going yet. Whether or not this becomes a series I devour (like Ilona Andrews’ books) or one I don’t revisit but look on fondly, I’m not quite sure yet, but I did enjoy it. I give it 3 stars.
  • Nevernight by Jay Kristoff is a New Adult Fantasy novel (I say New Adult because of the mature content, but it could equally be enjoyed by mature YA readers and Adults, of course). I had a friend who asked me what it was about and my answer went something like this: “Assassins. Revenge Plots. Fucking.” Not sex, fucking. Very specific on that one
