I needed a bit of sorcery tonight. Here’s what I found.
Necromancers and Mages
Each contends
that a proper pipe tobacco,
when smartly puffed,
will produce a smoke
that floats upward
through a clutch
of daisies
much like a spoon of honey
would drip
through the same.
They read old books,
paying close attention
to the space between letters,
rather than the scribbled ink,
for the best way to unweave conundrums,
often wrapped as well as onions,
is to delve into spaces
where mystery piles thickest.
And spells are cast
only after softening their beards
in the steam rising
from a cup of black tea.
