5 Beautiful Stars
I am a huge Michelle Leighton fan, I love her characters and stories and The Beautiful Now is one of her best yet! This is a beautiful second chance story about true love that stands the test of time. Michelle creates these beautiful characters that capture your heart and uses stunning imagery that transports you into their world.
This story is a great mix of the adult romance and new adult feel, being told from present day and teenage years. I really loved that about this book, it really gives a lot of insight into the characters and their journey. Brinkley is a smart and strong-willed girl, but her mother believes that money and status are what matters in life and expects Brinkley to behave that way. She is supposed to have the ‘right’ friends and date the ‘right’ boys, no matter how they actually treat her, but she meets the farmhand’s son Dane James nothing will ever be the same for either of them.
As an adult we see Brinkley return to her hometown with her daughter Celina, and the only reason she’s back is for Celina. Brinkley has to come to terms with the past and this town for her daughter, but when she sees Dane in the same fields it’s much harder than she ever thought it would. She’s going to have to explain why she left, why she’s returned and reveal even more about her daughter.
There is so much emotion in this story, from the first page to the last. This is not just a love story between Brinkley and Dane, but also a story about family and the love parents have for their children. Michelle truly captures that deep love and devotion in this book. Brinkley and Dane have that special forever love, but that doesn’t mean their story is easy. There is love, but there is anger and pain between them as well and oh it made my heart ache. I loved everything about this book, all the smiles and tears and epic swoons. I adored Brinkley and Dane and wanted all the happiness for these two – they truly deserved it! Michelle has created another stunning story that I fell completely in love with and one that will stay in my heart!
