NEWS: James Boal and Andrew Still Join Cast of Trainspotting Live

Final casting has been announced for the 2018 UK tour and London season of  the immersive experience of Irvine Welsh’s Trainspotting Live. 

James Boal (as Mother Superior) and Andrew Still (Sick Boy) join returning cast members Rachael Anderson (Laura), Finlay Bain (Tommy), Chris Dennis (Begbie), Erin Marshall (Alison) and Frankie O’Connor (Renton) in the upcoming UK tour and London season.

Andrew Still is best known for playing Joel Dexter in Hollyoaks. In Waterloo Road he played Scott Fairchild, a pupil with multiple exclusions from other schools. He also appeared in the BBC Three comedy Fried, the National Theatre Of Scotland trilogy The James Plays and most recently co-starred with Laurence Fox in a UK tour of The Real Thing.

James Boal’s recent roles include e the Beast in Beauty and the Beast, Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew, Thor in Manhattan Children’s Theatre Company’s Mermalade, and William Shakespeare in The Shakespeares: Scenes from a Marriage at The Rose Playhouse, London.

Trainspotting Live will return to London for an eight week season at The Vaults from the 27th March until the 20th May. A pre-London tour opens at Belfast Waterfront Studio (30 January – 3 February) then tours to Leamington Spa The Assembly (6 – 10 February); Aberystwyth Arts Centre (13 & 14 February); Llanelli Ffwrnes Theatre (16 &17 February); Southampton Engine Rooms (20 – 24 February); Cardiff Tramshed (27 February – 3 March); Camberley Theatre (6 & 7 March); Gravesham Woodville (9 &10 March) and Leicester Curve (13 – 17 March).

Against a dynamic soundscape of 80s dance music, the stories of a group of friends living through the Edinburgh heroin scene – Renton, Tommy, Sick Boy, Begbie and Alison – are brought to life with humour, poetry and provocatively graphic scenes It’s a ticket to ride you won’t soon forget. Choose life. For avid fans this is a must, and if you’ve never read the book or seen Danny Boyle’s iconic, generation-defining Trainspotting film: this is your ticket to a ride you won’t soon forget.

The production is directed by Kings Head Theatre artistic director Adam Spreadbury-Maher in collaboration with Greg Esplin and has been adapted by Harry Gibson.
