review 1: This was nine different stories in one volume. Each story is independent of one another. The first story's summary on the inside cover of my book doesn't match what the story is about. The story is titled "Take Me Home" and the summary talks about Abigail and in the actual story there is no one named Abigail. The story is about a young woman named Kathleen who comes to Coon's Hollow, Iowa as the new school teacher. This story takes place about two years after the last story [Colder Than Ice] in this volume.
review 2: Not my usual genre for sure, it came recommended as a holiday read. This is a historical romance collection of nine short stories that happen to take place around Christmas time. There is a Christian touch to all of them. Too brief for anything b... moreut stock character development, predictable plots, and simple theology. Very inconsistent quality of writing, some were definitely better than others. One in particular was a laughable eye roller. Others were delightfully charming. Sometimes you just need a "happily ever after" book to pull you out of the dips in the road. less
