Painting Progress & The Gathering Storm…

As I have made a bit more progress than I was expecting with my miniature painting this week (though technically I did start painting them before my first post went live) I thought I would give an update on my progress so far rather than waiting! Take a look below and see what you think, the first 5 of my Skitarii Vanguard!

So what do you think? I know I am not the best painter in the world (not by any stretch at all!) but comments are welcome and appreciated! I will try and take some more close up photos of individual models when I have completed the other 5 members of the squad.

The Gathering Storm Part 3…

I had not originally planned to add anything else to this post but then Games Workshop went and released this:

I don’t know about you but I have been really enjoying the advancing of the plot, new models and general excitement around The Gathering Storm so far. Being a player with Ultramarines, Cult Mechanicus + Skitarii and Tyranids getting the first book and Triumvirate of the Imperium was a no brainer. Finally getting a special character for the Ad-Mech was awesome and the model is beautiful, if sometimes a bit fragile, especially that servo-skull at the back which I am not expecting to last long).

The Gathering Storm part 2 was of less interest to me model wise, being an Eldar focused release, when I have no Eldar armies to speak of. However the book itself is on order and on it’s way as again the plot advancement and how it will link into part 3 is really exciting and well worth a read.

For those who know what is coming with part 3 you can understand why I am excited, with the huge release coming this way in March. I can’t wait for part 3 to arrive and will definitely be getting it along with the 3rd Triumvirate! Below I will be speaking about what is coming so *SPOILERS* for those who don’t know already and don’t want to know until an official GW release comes out…

So the Primarch of the Ultramarines, Roboute Guilliman himself is coming back, with a pretty epic looking model and I can’t wait! I have been umming and aaahing about purchasing the Forge World Primarch model and was close to giving in but I have to say I much prefer the upcoming model. I know it is not everyone’s tastes but it certainly is to mine! I can’t wait to have my Primarch leading my 40k Ultramarines from the front lines.

My friend Alex is getting suitably frustrated that his two main armies, Blood Angels & Dark Angels, don’t even have one Primarch model and my army will soon have two. However I think he is looking forward to getting his hands on Cypher, for the good or for the ill of the secretive Dark Angels.

So as the Gathering Storm continues to gather pace I am suitably excited, but what about you? Have you enjoyed the advancement of the story so far? How about the models and rules? Let me know what you think in the comments section below.

Right time to crack on with the other 5 Skitarii Vanguard, and hopefully a game of Warhammer Quest: The Silver Tower tomorrow which I hope to take pictures and give a play by play of sometime later this week or perhaps pushed into next week time dependant.

Thanks for reading!
