Podcasts… Making Mundane Tasks Enjoyable Since 2004!

Podcasts have sky-rocketed in popularity over the last few years, with new podcasts coming out all the time on any and every topic imaginable.
I love listening to podcasts whilst cleaning, cooking, on long road trips and whilst flying. They not only pass the time, but can actually make performing boring tasks interesting. I almost (almost, but not quite!) look forward to housework now, thanks to podcasts. Here are a few of my favourites of the moment.

TOFOP

This is a comedy podcast where comedian Wil Anderson and actor Charlie Clausen basically just talk shit… and it’s hilarious! They discuss all manner of random topics and come up with some crazy hypothetical situations that have me laughing out loud frequently. It’s also nice to hear some Aussie accents! They release a new episode every week. I’m currently binge listening to their back catalogue, they have been doing this podcast since 2010, so there’s a lot!

2 Guys 1 Cup

Two Guys One Cup is the second podcast of Wil Anderson and Charlie Clausen. It’s in a similar vein to TOFOP, but this one’s just about Australian Rules Football. It’s very funny but would probably only be of real interest to someone who’s into AFL. It has been great for my husband and I, as we are overseas at the moment and haven’t been able to keep up with the footy. This podcast is a nice round up of the previous week’s games, done in a very entertaining way.

The Mustards

In this podcast, Swedish couple Jenny and David Mustard talk about a variety of topics  ranging from hygge, minimalism, advice and whatever they find interesting and topical. It’s a great, light-hearted, chatty podcast that feels like you’re having a conversation with friends. The Mustards are also very active on YouTube, they each have their own channel as well as one they do together, also called The Mustards. This podcast is very calming and relaxing.

Black Hands

If you love mysteries and enjoyed Serial and S-Town, you’ll love this one. I won’t give too much away, but it’s about an infamous murder of a family that took place in New Zealand in 1994. The podcast delves deep into this unsolved case. I recommended this to my sister-in-law and she was hooked immediately. This podcast (or any mystery podcast) is fantastic for a long road trip. I highly recommend it!

Little Girl Lost

This podcast is a mystery series which investigates the murder of 12 year old Leanne Holland in Queensland in 1991. Again, in a similar vein to Serial, the journalist attempts to find out why no one was ever convicted for Holland’s murder. It’s very interesting and will have you enthralled!

Trace

Trace is a podcast chronicling another unsolved murder (are you noticing a theme here? I’m obsessed with mystery podcasts!). It follows the ongoing investigation of the death of Maria James in Melbourne in 1980. This case was cold for many years until recently, when journalist Rachel Brown took an interest in it and decided to investigate it. The podcast series isn’t yet complete as they are still investigating the case.

The JCN Clinic Podcast Show

In this podcast, Australian nutritionists Jessica Cox and Carissa Mason discuss all things nutrition. They get a lot of questions emailed to them, so each episode is generally on a topic they’ve been asked about by their listeners. They have a great approach to health and nutrition and I have learnt an enormous amount from them. If you’re not into nutrition, you probably won’t enjoy this, but if you love to learn about the food you’re fuelling your body with or have any gut or digestive issues, I highly recommend this podcast.

There are a number of other podcasts I’m currently listening to that have been recommended by friends. If you have any recommendations, I’d love to know them! I’m always on the lookout for new podcasts.  Have you listened to any of the podcasts I’ve mentioned? What did you think of them?

Love Nat xo
