Today Emelia and I realised how close the deadline for our finished films is! We then thought about how we do not have a location for the “Something Blue” scene where the protagonist character finds the blue coat. We then realised the urgency to get this scene filmed! At lunchtime, Emelia and I went scouting for locations in Horncastle, where our school is. We then came across a blue charity shop that had a blue colour themed display… perfect! We then walked in and asked permission to film this afternoon! Luckily, the owner was happy to help and so Emelia and I went back to school to collect the equipment. On Wednesday afternoons we usually have PE and so we had to ask our head of year for permission to miss PE in order to get our last scene filmed! Thankfully he said that we could!
Emelia then realised that we had not planned this and so thought that I would not have the outfit or makeup to get my appearance exactly the same as it has been in all of our previous shots. However, luckily, I kept the clothes and makeup in the boot of my car in case of situations such as this! Therefore, Emelia and I then went to get me ready! We then walked back into Horncastle and began filming at the charity shop.
Although the shop was fairly spacious, Emelia and I found it difficult to get the various shots that we had previously planned as we did not know the spacing would be as it was. However, we managed to get over this by creating a new sequence of shots. Another problem that we came across was having to stop filming whenever another customer entered the shop. After much perseverance, Emelia and i felt as though we were finished.
We then made our way back to school and uploaded the footage onto the school Macs. When watching the footage that we had just shot, Emelia and I were fairly disappointed. When positioning it next to our other footage it stood out like a sore thumb. This is because the lighting was so dark and the weather was so gloomy. Emelia and I decided to discard the footage because we want our final product to have and to simply carry on editing the rest of our short film.
Emelia and I will now need to come up with another plan for filming our “Something Blue” scene, and quickly!
