review 1: I would rate this at about 3.5 so I rounded up. I did enjoy this book. It had a good play, moved well and was still deep and had good action in it like the first one. The problem is, and like second books in a trilogy, is that it felt as if it was something something else up for the second book. The story, for the book, did resolve but the overall story still has more that needs to be done. It ended and wrapped up well but there is still more that needs to be done. Its not really a fault of the author, second installments in any trilogy tend to be the same way. They leaving you wanting more and for more to be resolved. In the end still a good book.
review 2: This is the second book in series. When I first explored these books I found myself thinking of
... more Sir Richard Burton, and George Alec Effinger (this is meant to be a compliment). These books didn't really delve into their own cultural roots so much as intentionally create a bastardization thereof, and yet they are well crafted. I appreciate innovations with gene manipulations, insects, and what seems to me a mild type of telekinesis. less
