review 1: (I mean more like 3.5 stars. Need to stop feeling bad for giving books less than 4 star ratings.) Had the imprudence of getting myself stuck on the book for the most part, so skimmed through some sections. Overall rather entertaining, with the combination of historical facts, myths, and the modern story. The characters have depth and vivid personalities, though maybe just a tad bit inconsistent occasionally for the benefit of the plot. Things are a little too convenient sometimes, and lack conviction. Glad for the way things tidied up in the end.
review 2: 2-1/2 stars. I randomly picked this book up at the library. The title intrigued me and then when I read the summary inside the book jacket it sounded like it could be a fun read. Generally I enjoy reading
... more this genre where people are racing around the world on a quest to find an ancient artifact that has some supernatural power, but this one just didn't do it for me. I was ok with the amulet having the ability to give eternal life, but the invisibility crown just took it a bit to far. On the bright side, I learned a little about Benvenuto Cellini. less
