Put it in Drive (Skip the Do-over)

A second bite at the apple. An opportunity for a do-over, who wouldn’t jump at this prospect?

Me, me, me. I’ve gone back more times than I will admit here, or to myself for that matter. I don’t have one good ending, or at least something learned or needed to learn, anyway.

Enough about me, do-overs, why do we go back? Should we go back? You all know how I feel about would haves, could haves and should haves by now (they are worthless, in case you don’t). Some reasons may be: We are forgetful and remember things through a shade of rose, seemingly unrealistic and/or optimistic. We think things will be better, the anatomy of a fixer. We use our social media accounts (I’ve heard things) to reconnect with long lost lovers and schoolmates, actions of someone desperate.

When you come to a stop on a hill in your vehicle are you nervous you may roll backward possibly hitting the car behind you? My advice is to hit the gas and go forward as quickly as possible to avoid the impending accident. Seems like unnecessary advice. Well, apply the same advice when this incredible opportunity for a second chance presents itself. As always, exceptions do exist, if I were to hedge my bets, your second chance will not be what you are expecting.

Our past is behind us for a reason and it is not always the reason you remember. Our memories are fickle. Unless you have irrefutable proof resurrecting the past is a swimmingly sound idea, let it go.

Kiss the rearview mirror and treat yourself to a milkshake.

There comes a day when you realize turning the page is the best feeling in the world. Because you realize there is so much more to the book than the page you were stuck on. Zayn Malik
