Trick (Origin #4) by Scarlett Dawn
Publication date: December 5th 2017
Genres: Shifter, Romance

The explosive and addicting Origin series by Scarlett Dawn dares the imagination with its next installment, TRICK. Mr. Valentine is back and he’s more devious than ever.

Faith Peyton has run out of time to find a husband and her name is selected on Marriage Match by the highest bidder. When she reluctantly knocks on her future husband’s door, he doesn’t even live there! The house belongs to the eccentric Alaric Wood, the sexiest man alive.

Alaric Wood isn’t a man to be trifled with. His temper is a blood-thirsty beast that shouldn’t be awakened. And when a waif of a woman shows up at his private mansion, claiming to be his future wife, he’s had enough of the horrors that have plagued his life.

Except a trick can be more than it seems…

Because I like you, I’m going to give you some advice.  Please read the previous books in this series.  I think that there is some serious world building and important story arcs which have their set-ups in books 1 – 3 which (in part at least) feed into and play out in this book.

With that proviso in mind, on the whole, I enjoyed the relationship between Faith and Alaric.  Of course, there is the usual insta love/lust that one often encounters in shifter novels.  In the context of that genre, I don’t mind it.  The author has gifted the reader with characters that had some depth to them, as well as a plot that kept my interest.

I think that I shall be coming back for more.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
