Author: Tawna Fenske
Series: ?
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Length: Novel

Love doesn’t stick to the script in this witty romance from USA Today bestselling author Tawna Fenske.

TV producer Kate Geary is in unscripted heaven. She’s piloting a reality series featuring her favorite self-help guru, Dr. Vivienne Brandt. The Dr. Viv—whose nuggets of wisdom helped Kate get through some of her toughest times. Thanks to Dr. Viv, Kate is almost on the verge of figuring everything out. That is, until Jonah Porter, the superhot book nerd Kate just spent an amazing date with, appears at the show’s first meeting.

Jonah did not want to get reeled into a world filled with invasive crews, pushy network execs, and over-the-top drama, but a connection to the story leaves him no choice. Fortunately, Kate—hot, smart, and funny—helps make it bearable. Now they’re both on the verge of violating their contracts as they find themselves sneaking around off set. But the cameras have a way of finding out everyone’s secrets…especially the ones that can break hearts.

Few writers do wit, romance, innuendo, love and sheer fun better than Tawna Fenske. I don’t even need to look at what her latest book is about before I want to read it. And this book is no exception, funny, silly, sexy and thoroughly enjoyable, I loved this tale of reality TV, awkward attraction and a seriously judgemental cat.

I know that this book is about Kate and her teeny-tiny obsession with Dr. Viv and her self-help books, but really, despite how much I liked Kate and her struggles for integrity in a soul-sucking business, for me this book was all about Jonah. I loved Jonah. He’s a smart man who is fed up of dumbing himself down because of the success of his ex-wife’s book. He also knows what he wants from life and isn’t afraid to do what he can to get it.

There was so much about Jonah to like, from his sense of humour to the way he tries to help out his sister without obviously helping her out. The dog walking scene was an excellent example of Jonah’s commitment – and Fenske’s comedic sense of the ridiculous. I really liked Jonah’s little sister too, and Marilyn the cat is a scene stealer extraordinaire.

I’m also a sucker for books set in reality TV worlds (even if I hate actual reality TV). It just provides so many entertaining scenarios, as well as the always fun forbidden-romance. Both of which this book used to the full extent without any disappointment.

If I’m honest, the villains of the piece were a little too 2D and predictable, and there were times when Kate’s constant quoting of Viv got almost too much, but on the whole this was enormously entertaining, sexy, romantic fun. I can’t wait to read whatever Tawna Fenske writes next.
