Review: Hard justice by Lori Foster

★★★★

Fallon Wade is twenty-four years old but she still feels like a baby in her parents’ eyes, especially now that they hired a bodyguard to basically babysitter her. Justice Wallington is not your usual bodyguard: he’s plenty capable but his cheeky grin and casual clothes would say otherwise. Not to mention the size of his body: massive.

Now that she has the protection that her parents always wanted, Fallon wants to live the life she never could and, maybe, just maybe, find real love in the middle of this adventure.

“He certainly looked more than capable of providing protection.”

So, for those who read Under Pressure, this basically the same: the hero is still capable and hot and the heroine is still a vulnerable client in her own way. So I would say that if you didn’t like the first book, you won’t like this one either, but if you loved Under Pressure, you will love Hard Justice too.

Given that, I have to say that throughout this book I was afraid this series would just always be the same storyline: the bodyguard and client fall in love. But, there’s some bits and pieces of Miles (the hero of Close Contact) is this book that made me believe that the same won’t happen in the same book. Because, honestly, even though I’m enjoying myself reading these books, I’m hoping for a change of scenario. So fingers crossed Close Contact won’t be the same.

Regarding this book, I still enjoyed the storyline very much. Fallon is shyer that Cat (from Under Pressure) was and she’s not so upfront about her wishes. But, besides that, they’re actually really similar.

Justice is more easygoing that Lesse (from Under Pressure) and a lot easier to conquer too. He wanted Fallon from the starts and he’s the one to take the reins of this relationship, partly because she only had one relationship in the past.

“Holding you makes me feel better, okay? So just go with it.”

I guess what I loved the most about this book was the secondary characters. Fallon’s parents and Justice’s mother and grandmother were so funny! They were a really good addition to the book.

All in all, the book is pretty good: it is sexy, hot (because, well, Justice is also an MMA fighter) and it has a rather sad story but as we all know the boys are always fun. And even though I mentioned Under Pressure a lot in this review, you don’t need to read it to read this one (all the books in the series are standalone).
