REVIEW – Last Sacrifice Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead

FIRST IMPRESSIONS. I think ultimately the title of Last Sacrifice is dramatic without giving too much away and acts as a good title for the last book in the series. As with the rest of the series I have the more minimalistic covers, which I like much more than the original.

PLOT/NARRATIVE. I think this book was my favourite in terms of how it was paced. In previous books I’ve had issues with the speed of the narrative where the action was bundled up either into the first half or the second half, but in this book I feel like the action was constant and sustained – there were also peaks and troughs in the action but these continued throughout.

CHARACTERS. I can’t talk too much about character progression without giving things away, but I admire where Rose ends up compared to where she started. She has to deal with a constant supply of obstacles but manages to do so while protecting those she loves. She feels very real because she has flaws but she also has passion and maintains her role as a driving force.

OVERALL. I’m rating this final book in the series a 5* – I absolutely loved it as the series conclusion and it just felt right. I don’t know whether I’ll read the sequel series, Bloodlines, as it doesn’t really focus on the characters I’m interested in – but I’m glad I’m leaving the characters where they are.
