Evelyn Montgomery might live a comfortable life physically, but emotionally she felt neglected. At twelve years old, she met a man who gave her the attention she needed. He was her savior in more than one way. That was until he became the monster to her living nightmare.
Drake Salvatore was a powerful man. His name alone would incite fear among the people. When he wanted something, he would get it by any means necessary. And once he owned it, he would never let it go.
I could never resist a dark book. When I read the blurb, I saw the potential triggers to other people, but a catnip for me lol!
“I have demons, Evelyn. There’s no denying that I do.”
Drake was a man of contradictions. The things he did or said could potentially give you a whiplash, which could go either way. Naturally his bad side was more attractive to me :p
I want nothing to do with him, and yet I find myself unable to help feel that pull I have towards him.
I could understand why Evelyn chose the direction she went. However, sometimes she was incredibly naïve I wanted to slap some senses into her.
The only thing that’s stopping me from really fleeing from him is the fact that he’s the only man who has ever really taken care of me. He’s the only man who has shown me any love.
I thought the story started with a good potential. It was intriguing, but by halfway mark, it started to feel dragged on because there wasn’t enough answers provided.
After that, the story turned into darker direction which made me happy. However, once the plot unraveled, I found it hard to be invested in the story because it was too familiar for me. I wish there’s some extra element that would make it standout. Also, there were still a lot of questions never properly addressed.
I should have known he was lying when he said he wasn’t a monster. He is a monster.
Possession revolves around power and obsession in an unconventional relationship. It would appeal to fans of dark sexy books.
