review 1: I'll start by saying that the investigation elements and the main case are well done and really interesting. However that's half the story. The author spends half the time talking about a pointless and ridiculous romance. It comes across as pure fantasy, no one would act like that. The romance dialogue is cringe worthy and painful to read. I read it back to my girlfriend when I came across the romance parts and we both shared a good laugh at how ridiculous it was. Normally this would be forgivable, but so much of the story is devoted to talking about the romance. It was predictable. Also, so much of the tease for the book is them trusting the serial killer, Cameron Welsh. However, in all the times they see him he produces nothing of real value to the case. It's a waste of ... morewords, and only really relevant in terms of the romance storyline. Why did they need to go see him? Why focus the story on consulting with a serial killer, when there was no real point and he added nothing to the story? (Minus the romance storyline, which wasn't needed). It's a shame, because attention to detail had been paid to the detective and police elements. Word to the author: Forget the romances.
review 2: Eh..finished this book earlier and as I pack and prep for my bday vacation woop woop I wanted to get this review in..okay so this thriller was like five hundred pages long and that was way too much..There were too many moments that dragged on, too many revelations and then a ho-hum reveal and a rushed romance..So the plot is a police procedural complete with the stereotypical hardass woman cop in a man's world guarding her heart and displaying confidence that she doesnt' really feel as she tracks down a killer who rapes and strangles women.. The cop Anna Travis is tasked with finding this sicko and working directly with a team of investigators and her superior and ex, to top all that off she is getting contacted by another killer behind bars who claims he can help the case so she has to meet him ala Silence of the Lambs but way less creepier..I didnt really like the romantic angle of this book and felt that for all those pages it could have been fleshed out more than just eating and sex you know..It ends up without the twist I foresaw and I dont know it just fell off somewhere, I will read another one of her novels though to see if I just caught one over my head, this is #6 in a series I believe so we'll see... less

Ending was obvious. Title makes sense at the end of the book. However, I enjoyed it
