Mark 2:1-4
“A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. So many gathered that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. Some men came, bringing a paralytic, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on.”
Psalm 24:7
“Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.”
To you, King of glory, belongs the earth, the sky and all that lies between and beyond.
When your Son left your side, he was not welcomed in to our crowded, calculating world. Though we made no room for him, he made space for each desperate soul, disregarding crowds to touch the least of us.
Fill us with the capacity to draw the outsider in. Enlarge our hearts so that we become an open gate through which all may enter.
We know we cannot hope for this graciousness apart from the power of our Saviour Jesus, who was shut out of glory so that we might enjoy the privilege of being ushered in.
