review 1: This was actually a lot better than I had expected it to be. I don't know how much that says though because I wasn't really expecting a lot out of this. In my experience there isn't a lot of variation in zombies. This one contains the typical zombies, slow and wanting nothing more than to eat people. The only new addition to the typical zombie are the wildcards. People who are bitten by zombies but who stay immune. As usual this spreads with the flu as well. Overall I enjoyed the main characters, even if there were actions taken by several of them that do not fall into the realm of rational actions that people would take. I know that's part of books as a whole but some of these things are seriously out there. Overall though the main characters are good and the sto... morery flows. Not a bad read.
review 2: Whenever I read any book about a zombie outbreak, I always take it with a grain of salt. I'm not a zombie aficionado, but the book did strike me as a bit formulaic and cheesy - and I loved it anyway. I can actually say that is one of the reasons I did love it. The characters were over the top and spouted things that seemed unbelievable at turns, but it didn't matter - the entertainment value was good and I found myself plowing through the book rather quickly. If you're looking for a quick, fun read that involves lots of zombie slaughter, give this one a go! less
