So, you are now the owner of a shiny new (or shiny used) RV and you are excited to take your first trip. You have worked out your route & destination and its time to pack. Clothes, Check. Toiletries, Check. Food, Check… You wonder if there is something that you’ve forgotten. Chances are, you could be missing some of these essential items. They are easy to overlook but can be costly, time consuming & vacation ruining if you don’t have them!
Power Adapters & Extension Cords. Chances are, you are going to want to hook your RV up to a power source. It would be pretty inconvenient to discover the power source at your destination has a different outlet to your RV; In most cases, you will need an adapter. Make sure you pack the appropriate adapter(s) and power cords for your major devices and generators. We include this 15 amp to 30 amp adapter in our starter pack for $10.59 (RRP)*
Water Regulator. This little device keeps the water pressure at a safe level for your RV plumbing system. The last thing you want to do is burst your pipes if the water pressure is too high as this is a very costly mistake to rectify! It is a good idea to keep the water regulator attached to your fresh water hose so that you don’t forget to use it. This is one item that you don’t want to skimp on quality, so we include this brass 40-50 PSI regulator in our starter pack for $12.29 (RRP)*
Fresh Water Hose. Speaking of fresh water hoses, you’ll most likely want a hose specifically for your drinking water. The usual hoses make the water have a rubbery taste and aren’t made from “food grade” materials – So unless you want your drinking water to give you flash-backs to your childhood days, drinking from the garden hose in the summer, you’ll want to invest in one of these. These hoses are available in a few different sizes, but we usually include this 25′ hose in our starter pack for $15.19 (RRP)*
Sewer Hose Kit. Have you seen RV (2006) with Robin Williams? If not, check it out – Enough said about making sure you are prepared for the not so glamorous side of RV’ing. There are a range of different hose lengths with various connections and adapters available. We include this 15′ kit in our starter pack for $41.79 (RRP)*
RV Toilet Paper. It is true that not all toilet paper is made the same and if you use the standard stuff from your house, you’ll most likely run into some pretty nasty issues that can be costly (and gross) to fix. Keep things un-blocked with soluble toilet paper and of course, a regular intake of dietary fiber. You don’t have to skimp on softness, because 2-ply is available for $4.49 (RRP)* or 1-ply for $3.39 (RRP)*
Holding Tank Treatment. Organic Happy Camper – The name says it all. This product will give you unsurpassed long lasting odor free protection, even in over 100 degree temperatures. Not only that, it is locally made, organic & friendly to the environment. It is available in a range of different sizes but we normally include the 18oz tub in our starter packs for $15.99 (RRP)*
So there you have it – Come and see us to make sure you are ready to go! If you have any questions, you can call us on 541 472 4999.
