review 1: Oh wow.This manga was gorgeous. Both in storytelling and in art.It's the story about how three kids start noticing weird things happening with the sea life in Japan's oceans, and then the adults start to take notice, too. There's definitely a mystery aspect. Why are the fish beaching themselves? Why are they disappearing? What are the little balls of light? And what are the ghost fish?I can't say much more than that without feeling like I'm taking away part of the experience for other readers.
review 2: If I could give this book 5 stars just for the drawings, I would. My goodness. I wasn't sure what to make of the book when I first saw it (mostly because it had a weird guy on the back--who actually isn't that weird) but I gave it another try and holy-moly, thos... moree drawings are...the most...they're so detailed and beautiful and realistic. I mean, when Umi opened his mouth sometimes, I was like: ....Okay? But besides that--it was really something I wouldn't mind seeing over and over again. Apparently if you like Solanin, you'll like this book, and I LOVE Solanin, so I really did like this book. It kept me interested and I really want to read the rest!!! Apparently it's ongoing...daaaaammnnn!! less
