I took this picture on October 19th 2008. I went on what was then my really first vacation (if you discount the time I spent on the Belgian coast, which I don’t consider being vacation) with my very good friend Jelle.
That day we were visiting Central Park in New York City and entered what was the Strawberry Fields Memorial, dedicated to John Lennon, who was sadly assassinated only a few meters from there in 1980. We were both real Beatles fans and it felt natural to walk through the memorial and reminisce about our own Beatles memories.
The atmosphere was a bit flower power with a cover band playing ‘We Can Work It Out’ when we were arriving there. And this is the way it should be. People remembering John Lennon for the songs he wrote that went on for generations. Let’s keep singing together and maybe everything will work out.
