Temperance shines here, simply in the contrast of backgrond colours… the King of Swords and the Nine of Pentacles are so gloomy by comparison. Authority and Wealth seem like alright things of course, but I think this reading is saying maybe you’ve been a little too focused on them. Temperance means knowing how much of each ingredient is exactly right, and to me it also implies a lightness, a sense of ease and comfort, inner peace.
In the case of the King of Swords, it’s easy to see where you could have too much of a good thing. This King is very sure of his own rightness, which can be a much bigger problem than simply not always being right. And especially if one is in a leadership position, exerting that kind of rigid authority could be dangerous. So the Temperance card is suggesting here, that if you’ve been rigid in your beliefs, and giving orders based on those beliefs, maybe it’s time to listen to other opinions for a while. Maybe it’s time to let some of your followers make some decisions on their own for a while, and let them either shine or learn painfully from those decisions.
To me the Nine of Pentacles has always been less about wealth itself, and more about the self-discipline required to attain it… again, Temperance may be suggesting that it’s time for some lightness in your life. If you’ve been driving yourself hard (and if you identify with that King of Swords then I bet you have), maybe it’s time to allow yourself a little break. A trip to the spa, perhaps???
