TBR Tuesday #37; Monster Girls & Scientific Immortality

Hello reader/s! For a while now, I’ve been writing a bi-weekly post about books that are on
my TBR. TBR, if you don’t know is the abbreviation for To Be Read. My goal here is to shed some light on books that I’ve otherwise forgotten about. These books could be books I’ve been meaning to read from the library, or books that have been collecting dust on my shelves at home. My goal though is to say a little about the book and also give a little reasoning of why I want to read them. In hopes of reading them sooner than later.

On this TBR Tuesday, I’m going to be talking about two books from two different authors that I’ve never read from before. I haven’t read any of their books, which is not a first for me, but we’ve all got to start somewhere, right? Let’s get onto the books, shall we?

Switched by Amanda Hocking, is a Young Adult Fantasy novel, with some Paranormal/Romance.

Switched came out in 2012, which is the year I graduated high school. Which, when I think about it, is probably why Switched was never on my radar until a few years later.

The synopsis for Switched is truly intriguing and I’m wondering why I’ve never read the book before now.

I don’t know what to expect in Switched, but I hope that there is a lot of action, suspense, and hopefully, a good romance. I also want to find out how Wendy could be a monster. From the synopsis, the more I think about it, this book seems to sound like a retelling of Peter Pan? Am I alone in thinking this?

I have the rest of the trilogy sitting on my shelves as well. So maybe if I end up liking Switched, I can move onto the other books.

The second book I will be talking about is one that I came across in Chapters Indigo a few years ago, and found that it was on sale for $6! In comparison to the $19 that it usually goes for, the $6 buy was such a steal.

Origin by Jessica Khoury, is a Young Adult Science Fiction/ Dystopia novel, with some Romance.

The cover itself, to me, is very pretty and intriguing. The synopsis for Origin is interesting as well, since Pia, the main character, has grown up in a secret laboratory hidden deep in the Amazon rain forest. Which makes me that much more interested in the book. Actually, everything about the synopsis is incredibly interesting.

What’s also interesting is that Pia is the scientists creation of a new Immortal race. Everything about Origin is screaming “READ ME!!!” and I have no idea how I’ll react to the story.

I hope that Origin is full of action and excitement. If I end up loving Origin, I could just continue on reading the second book, since I have it as well!

Have you read either of these books?
If you have, what did you think of them? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Happy Reading!
Adele

P.S. – I find it kind of funny that I got both books (and their counterparts) for such low prices.
