“Stargazing Dog’s Family“, a manga by Takashi Murakami, is one of the best mangas I’ve read so far. It’s the sequel to “Stargazing Dog”, which I haven’t read yet. It is totally fine to read even starting from the 2nd one.
Three short stories (Twin Star, The Brightest Star and a final epilogue to the series) tell about the relationship between men and dogs and, more in detail, between an abandoned puppy and an old lady who’s waiting to die and an unselled dog and the boy who steals it. When the dogs enter those people’s lives they change them drastically and in a more positive way.
I really don’t want to spoil this to you, so I’m not revealing anything else about the plot. I’ll just add that I’ve never read a manga as able to capture your imagination as this one. I found myself reading so concentrated, so deep in the story that it almost felt like I was part of it. If I had to choose one adjective for this book, I’d say ‘peaceful‘. You’ll only regret the moment when you’ll finish reading the last page, as it won’t be enough.
Good work, Takashi Murakami! Good work!
