review 1: I read this book upon a recommendation from the local librarian at the library. It was definitely a well written book. Robert Masello is an exceptional author and even wrote books on how to write. He did very well at painting pictures with words and made me feel like I was actually there in the Antarctic with the characters. I was a little disappointed with the ending though. It seemed like the last 100 pages were rushed and I would have liked to have read more about what happened after they got back to the US. Otherwise I did enjoy the book and felt it was nicely written.
review 2: This is not your average thriller. Nor is it your average love story and it isnt your average vampire tale either. It is a story of survival in so many different scenarios from the
... morebasic to the extreme, from the historic to the modern, to the personal and the collective. It is a gripping adventure set in the harshest environment on earth and suits the climax of it all as love and hatred clash spectacularly with the need to survive, to be free and to live despite all things. less

Very moody. Two storylines that merge into one (one in the past and one today). Suspensefull.

My predictions were right. This book had so much potential but faltered nearer the end.
