review 1: A friend lent me those books, otherwise I don't think I would have read them. These are definitely written for Young Adults, and I'm not a young adult any more :pI think I enjoyed the first volume more, but most of all, I kept reading for Matthias. Jillian and Declan were ok, but in Bloodlust, I didn't like them as much. Declan is too bipolar and cold (yes, I know, he doesn't have a choice given the circumstances) and Jillian too selfish. If I had to chose the love interest in this series, I would have picked Matthias ! He has charisma and charm, yummy.But while reading, I kept thinking this was the author's first book and it showed in the writing. I hope she gets better with time because the story was original, anyway.The plot was hard to follow at time, too many unbeliev... moreable twists.So, I'm glad I didn't buy the series, but I can't say I'm not glad I read them, it was agreeable yet I'll forget them very quickly.
review 2: While I initially liked Nightshade and thought it was an interesting concept to a new Urban Fantasy the sequel was not very good. Jillian acts like the perpetual victim, in a world where she needs to be a hero. Matthias seems so weak he can't help himself let alone Jillian, Declan, and Baby Sarah! The only saving point in this book is Declan, and even he is helpless to save them all. Christophe is awakening and no one seemed to be up to the task. Why oh why can't we have a heroine who can actually do what needs to be done, one who doesn't act like a teenager. Oh and the ending of this just seemed to work out too easy. I'm not sure I would read another one of these if there is another one written. less
