Tome Topple Readathon & TBR

Hey Ya’ll!

I wanted to share with you an amazing event I try to participate in every year called Tome Topple, created by Sam @thoughtsontomes. The general idea for this event is to read as many of those daunting 500+ page books as you can in a two week period.

Round 5 of Tome Topple starts on November 17th at midnight, and goes all the way until November 30th at midnight.

So my goal BEFORE Tome Topple will be to finish as many of the books on my “Currently Reading” shelf as possible.

TBR

I’m really torn between what to read for Tome Topple, so I think I’ll just list the 7 I’m considering and I’ll leave it up to you guys to convince me what to read first. Ideally, I will read them all but that’s SUPER unlikely. Because I’m generally a kindle reader, I’m going to be reading all physical books during Tome Topple to get to these books I’ve been putting off reading. I’m hoping participating in Tome Topple will help me catch up on my Goodreads reading challenge.

#1: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson

Page Count: 643

Listen, I don’t know what’s wrong with me. The first day this book came in the mail I read 325 pages and I haven’t touched it since. I think it’s a mixture of the fact that it’s a physical book so I can’t really read it at night, and the fact that I was spoiled on a certain thing that happens in the book. I don’t know why this keeps happening to me. But my main goal for Tome Topple will be to finish this book.

#2 & #3: The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss

Page Counts: 722 + 1107 = 1,829 PAGES

I cannot even tell you how long I’ve wanted to pick these up, and how many friends are screaming at me to read this series. I wanted to finish all of my currently reading books before I started these though, but that doesn’t seem to be happening. I can’t wait to read these books for Tome Topple. To be honest, mass market paperbacks are probably my favorite formats for physical books, with big floppy paperbacks coming in at a close second so that makes me even more excited.

#4: Blackdog by K.V. Johansen

Page Count: 546

To be honest, this one hasn’t been on my shelf that long, but it sounds super interesting. I got this one in my monthly Bookcase.club subscription. I wanted to split up all this epic fantasy with something a little less sword-and-sorcery so I don’t want to kill myself. And we have an amazing floppy paperback that makes me happy
