Brett Bengochea, a film actor perhaps best known for his role as Alejandro in Sean Hodgkinson’s ‘Traffiked (2015)’, has died.
News came to the Trinidad and Tobago Performing Arts Network early this morning that Bengochea died as a result of drowning, sometime in the latter hours of Saturday 29th April 2017.
A report coming out later today said Brett was swimming with friends at Balandra Bay, Toco, when he reportedly began feeling tired and had to be helped back to shore. While swimming back however, he appeared to lose consciousness and slipped beneath the water. He was rushed to shore and CPR was carried out, however, attempts to resuscitate him were not successful.
A promising young actor who trained under Tony Hall at the Digital Film Institute, Bengochea’s credits also included The Honestest Honest Truth (2016 TV Pilot), The Apartment (2015 TV Pilot), Girlfriends Getaway (2014), and A Story About Wendy II (2014).
In addition to his film credits, Brett was also a model who appeared in numerous print, billboard and television ads; a body builder, winning the 2015 Sportsworld Classic Men’s Physique Competition; fitness coach, and father of two.
The Trinidad and Tobago Performing Arts Network extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and anyone who has been touched by the life and work of Brett Bengochea.
Bengochea’s untimely passing comes just nine days after he celebrated his birthday.
He was 36.
