Trinity College

Trinity College, Dublin was a monastery before the Queen Elizabeth changed it to a university. Nowadays, it is located in the center of Dublin and it is the oldest university in Ireland.

Of course whether is old and traditional, there is a superstition. There is a saying which tells the student who pass below the campanile, would fail the exams. Then, the students celebrate the graduation passing through it!

More than just the pretty hall and the all nice old and new buildings of the university, the main attraction there are the libraries.

The new one, Berkeley Library, house more than 4,5 million books and has the copyright library for Ireland and UK.

However, it is the Old Library the most famous there. It has more than 200 thousands old books on the “Long Room”, as well as the oldest harp and the Book of Kells. The entrance is free for Trinity’s students, but for anybody else, the price vary between 9 – 13 euros to visit.
