While I usually read books that have positive reviews by people that have the same reading taste as me, sometimes I just randomly pick up a book without knowing what it’s about and expect nothing from it. Good thing is, there’s a chance that it’ll make my reading experience even better!
Anything could happen by Will WaltonI picked this up purely just because of the cover. I thought it would be a fun and positive story (and it turns out to be exactly that, though there was some tough stuffs too). I did not read the synopsis before reading it, but knew it had lgbt+ theme. It is one of my favorite lgbt books and I also recommend it in a blog post (note: it was in Vietnamese)
Rebel of the sands by Alwyn HamiltonYou may guess why I read this book in the first place. Damn, look at that cover. I only saw it getting featured in a video of abookutopia, I didn’t even watch that video, but the cover caught my eyes instantly. And I think I read this book in less than 24 hours. I didn’t think it was the best fantasy I ever read, but it definitely was an interesting story. Wrote a review for this book you can check out here.
Hopeless by Colleen HooverNot like the two books I listed above, I heard about the author of Hopeless before. This was not something I would ever read (New-adult romance wasn’t my thing), but I would never read Colleen Hoover’s works if it wasn’t because of this book. And I almost leave out this gem. I read it because the title sounds intriguing, I thought it was a book about mental illnesses (yep, didn’t read the description). This could be the most unexpectedly good book, to be honest.
It’s definitely the not-knowing-what-it-is-about that make these books 150% better, so I think I would try to read more books without reading the synopsis and/or the reviews
