Vitry’N Urbaine Street Art Event – Spring 2017

On April 22nd and 23 rd , Vitry’n Urbaine (main street art association in Vitry-sur-Seine) organized a spring street art event. On this occasion StreetArt360 has been honoured to invite two exceptional artists in Vitry-Sur-Seine as part of a first collaboration with Vitry’n Urbaine: Judith De Leeuw aka JDL Street Art (Netherlands) and Urbanimal (France).
For two days an exceptional casting of artists were able to create new urban artworks  on the walls of Vitry.
Artists: Zmogk (Russia), the graffiti legend DAZE (USA), 5919 (Lebanon), ARTIS (France), JDL Street Art (Netherlands), Mister X (Cape Verde), BEBAR (France), Quentin Chaudat (France), SIAM (France), Urbanimal (France), DIFUZ (France) .

I would like to give thanks to Jean-Philippe Trigla for this first street art event we’ve created together. We have also a surprise for all street art fans  in July coming to Vitry-sur Seine.  More on this i will tell you very soon.

JDL Street Art:  What can i say about Judith? In a nutshell, a Street Art star is born! A crazy talent! An exceptional technique! She uses the bomb as a virtuoso giving her work a disturbing resemblance to the works of Rembrandt and Flemish style painting. On the occasion of this event Judith painted  in Vitry the portrait of Djamel C… , a young man seriously wounded during the attacks of November 13th in Paris. A beautiful tribute! Djamel will soon come to Vitry to discover this portrait that has deeply touched him.

DAZE also known as Chris Ellis, belongs to the renowned group of New York graffiti artists, including Lee Quinones and Jean-Michel Basquiat, that broke out of the South Bronx in the 1970’s.
Even though Daze received his education at the famous New York High School of Art and Design, he has earned his degree and fame in the streets and subways of the Big Apple.
Just like many other great street artists, Daze also turned to paint on canvases in the early 1980’s and very quickly started exhibiting his works in galleries across the globe.
Today he is a legend of Street Art and Graffiti ! He accepted to paint for our Spring Event and dedicate his work to C215 and Vitry’n Urbaine.

5919: Abdel Kader Wawi AKA 5919, is a “calligraffiti” artist from Tripoli in Lebanon. His objective is to share a part of his culture, poems, quotes and ideas through his artwork.  The result is amazing !! At this event he transformed  a Tunisian love poem into visual art . What a wonderfull result.

QUENTIN CHAUDAT:  I asked Quentin to write a few words about himself and his artwork. This is what he said with a lot of humour.  “By the mid-1990s I was almost a child. I lived in the southern suburbs of Paris. Hip-hop had landed in our lives and  along with my brother we used to  jump the wall, tagged anything, anywhere and we loved it. An adrenaline rush ! The paintings flourished along the way, glued to the windows of the Metro, with my torch in my pocket an unknown world mocks me … I started high school and  at the same time discovered the world of street art and graffiti.  The first real graffiti i made alone, i remember the unforgettable feelings of  plenitude knowing i was in exactly the right place. This memory will never leave me. Even after e few police  arrests i continued to draw all the time … Now I’am an adult and there comes a time of orientation. I wanted to be an artist therefore signed  up for the fine arts. Graffiti is not yet street art and does not interest many at school.  In any case I have the entire world of  art to discover. Out of school, I bombarded myself with “digital art”. I learn my skill and expose anything, anywhere and I love it … 2008, I finished my apprenticeship, I know my trade and I am good but  I am bored with this.

As I’m going to be a father, i’ve changed everything. One afternoon I gathered all my artworks since high school and I put them in 4 big garbage cans and  formated all my hard drives !
I’m taking a new workshop and now i  look for something for me … when  I find something! I draw it ! I write it on a wall ! I write it on the street !   on a sheet of paper in my workshop !  With or without authorization !! ”
