What is High Point Farm? Part 2

Two Trees of High Point Farm with a Winter Sunset

We talked about food, fashion, wood, jewelry, toys, and signs. That is High Point Farm but there is so much more. Large silhouettes honoring the men and women of the military, cats, kittens, even seasonal items for Christmas, Easter, Independance Day, etc. But sorry, nothing for Halloween. You will also find Two Trees Publishing here. It is the publishing arm that produces inspirational guides for daily living, cat cozy mysteries, and cat science fiction.

So why is this stuff important to High Point Farm? The funds generated through the Farm supports something very special What could I be speaking of? A living animal that comes in many colors and patterns, body sizes and types, found both in the city and country. Most are very good at pest control but some look at the pests as play toys. Most people know them as the loving cats and kittens in their lives. Unfortunately, not all cats and kittens get the opportunity at a full loving life. Fortunatly, some get to come to High Point Cat Rescue & Sanctuary. Over the next few weeks we will be taking a look at some of the residents who call the Farm and Rescue home such as our “ALL CAT” therepy team who help our clients start their new life. They also help the client decide at the proper time if the Farm or a new home is right for them. We come in for the loving family times, food times, and medical times. We also go out to rescue some when called. Otherwise the cats do in a few weeks or months what it would take us as humans years to do. We also have a terrific vet to work with. Our kids visit Dr. Mike Shuffet and his team at Animal Clinic in Greensburg, KY. Any contributions can be sent directly to them. Your contributions help with their annual shots, injuries, and any other medical issues that we can not directly take care of at the Farm and Rescue.

And to answer why the Farm and what it produces is important. Any time you buy something from High Point Farm 10% goes directly to support them. And as the pitch man says…BUT THERE IS MORE…outside of publishing costs all proceeds from Two Trees Publishing goes directly to the rescue. Of course direct donations for food and medical are always appreciated. Checks can be sent to the Farm for the kids food, toys, bedding, etc., and you can call or donate online with credit or debit cards. For the medical needs please contact Animal Clinic in Greensburg directly. We will have the contact information a the end of this blog.

Jules Verne King of the Therapy Cat Pride

Now, who makes up the team at the Farm and Rescue? We have Mark “Da Jeweler” Nelson, Jo Ann Nelson, and Dorothy “Mcddor” McDonald cat whisperer, founder of McddorPics Photography and High Point Cat Rescue & Sanctuary. Mark and Dorothy feed, water, transport, and love on the cats and kittens, while Jo Ann gets to just love on them. But more on us later as the kids are the important ones here. Lets start with the line up as you need a program to keep up with the players. Do you remember the saying that says the smallest being the greatest among you? Well, that is true here. Our pride leader is the smallest full grown male we have. He is a handsome black and white known as a Tuxedo Cat. His name is Jules Verne, yes, you read that right. Jules Verne. He chose that name from a long list of writers names as that was what he wanted. We do not just assign names. We let them tell us what they want. Jules is the “King” of the pride. He oversees how things are working and helps settle disagreements between the cats.

Queen Donna Noble also our Queen Whovian

At his side is the “Queen” of the pride. Her name is Donna Noble. “Dr Who” fans should know that name. Jules came to the Rescue from under a shed on the property next door as a kitten of about 8 to 10 weeks old. Dorothy and Mark coaxed him from under the shed and onto the property where the other cats took over. They surrounded him with love and encourgement so he felt welcome. One of the female cats who had come to us pregnant had given birth and was feeding her own kittens welcomed him in and let him suckle as he adjusted to being in a pride. After about six months he became the pride leader and now runs the show.

Ms. Donna came to us at about three months old from an Amish farm where our eggs and goat milk come from. Mark was out there paying the bill when Donna came up to him and wrapped around his legs saying love me and pick me up. He did. Next he went the basement of the new house the family is building with her in his arms and the lady of the house asked if he wanted to take her home with him. As they say…”The Rest Is History”. Till next time…
