A pebble rattles in my shoe.
Is the Congo River Basin –a setting unfamiliar to most potential readers– a smart place to introduce a sleuth? Or should my linguist first appear in a more “known” setting?
Cozy Mysteries are often as much about the “detective” as the crime. Should I premiere my lead against a less “noisy” background? Or am I not giving my readers enough credit?
Is this merely a pebble clanging around my toes?… Or is it, in fact, a seed in need of cultivation?
Either way, it needs to get the heck out of my shoe.
Until tomorrow…
Chloe
