2017
Trial By Fire is the third album from Yelawolf who burst onto the Hip-Hop/Rap scene with his 2011 album Radioactive on Shady Records. Ever since Eminem took this artist under his wing he has continued to release quality music. His unique southern blend of Hip-Hop/Rap, roots rock, and a bit of classic country make for a unique and cleaver sound. Trial By Fire is an album that I wasn’t personally anticipating but knew would be good. This album is poetic, deep rooted, heart-felt, and yet another outstanding album from this great artist. One thing I really admire with this album is the fact that Yelawolf isn’t just throwing in cuss words for the sake of being trendy or trying to be something he’s not. This guy wears his heart on his sleeve and bleeds his soul into his music and you can’t help but listen in awe as he pours his heart out on each and every song. I could honestly write a long review dissecting each of these poetically brilliant songs but I would rather inspire anyone reading this to give this album a listen. As someone who isn’t necessarily huge into modern rap and hip-hop, this album is very intriguing and sucked me right in. I think this is an album that could change one’s feelings towards the genre if they happen to not be to impressed beforehand.
