review 1: I really enjoyed this book. I think that Cobb is very brave for writing a children's book like this because it is a very touchy subject. how do you explain to children death? This is a well written book with soft, easy to understand language that shows children that life does go on after there has been a death in the family, and that their loved ones will always love them as well. A child seeing this from another child's perspective (the child in the book) may help them bettee understand the situation. I also loved the illustrations because they were colorful and represented the emotions very well. For example, everyone at the funeral was dressed in all black except for the children. Also, there is a favorite sweater of mom's that shows up in almost every picture. the illu... morestrator really captures tge emotion of the book.
review 2: What a sad book! This book is from the perspective of a young girl whose mother just died. During the book, she works through many questions she has, such as, where did her mommy go, is she coming back, will she ever get the flowers they leave at her grave, etc. Told in sparse prose, this book is heartbreaking, but would probably be very helpful for children going through such a difficult situation. less

This book broke my heart. To know that 1 in 10 children lose their mother at a young age saddens me.
