review 1: Tormented by a traumatic childhood, the death of her best friend, and a failing marriage,forty-something teacher Judy McFarland is lonely and vulnerable. When she meets 16-year-old Zach Patterson, passion overshadows reason. Faced with a new home and teenage angst, Zach is equally lost and just as vulnerable. The two embark on a treacherous affair; a slippery slope to disaster.Rebecca Coleman’s characters are utterly real and completely disturbing. The Kingdom of Childhood is a provocative and haunting read.

... moreer. She became obsessed with Zach. There were hints in the book that people in her past were murdered by her. With the death of Bobbie, she became unhinged. She thought that Bobbie was the only one who could keep her in check, and without her Judy's madness ran rampant. A good book, a dark story. less
