review 1: Sophia has a secret she can't share. If she tells anyone about the buzzing in her head, they'll think she's crazy. And, most of the people in her small town already think she's crazy and dangerous--and possibly a murderer. She tries to cast a spell to get rid of her problem, but it makes matters worse. The buzzing turns into whispered voices and now she's seeing people others can't see. If this isn't bad enough, her best friend stops speaking to her, she's being followed, and she's about to find out the truth about her heritage. Yes, things are about to get much, much worse for Sophia.I love anything supernatural and The Forever Girl is about as good as it gets. The author has created a paranormal world that's captivating and fascinating, one the reader can get lost in. So... morephia's world is dark, spooky, and magical and when I read the book, I felt as if I was right there with her. I loved the author's attention to detail and the respectful way she dealt with Sophia's Wiccan rituals. I also enjoyed the intricate rules and hierarchy of the supernatural beings which exist within the pages of this book. I can sympathize with Sophia's struggle to determine who she can trust and her desire to find out the truth about her family's past. As she learns to accept and use her abilities, her self-confidence grows in a very satisfying way. I loved watching her evolve as a character. The Forever Girl is extremely well-written with an airtight plot and flawless pacing. I appreciate the fact that this novel is self-contained with a satisfying ending while still leaving lots of room for the series to expand. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who's looking for something different. I can understand why this book has been optioned for film. The story played out in my mind as if I were watching a movie and I think it would be incredible on the big screen. Please do yourself a favor a buy this book today!
review 2: So, what did I think?I don’t usually read fantasy or paranormal books – simply because I don’t know where to start, there are so many. I started reading this way, way back in 2011, before it was even published I think, but I’ve only just got round to reading the published version properly. I’m a bit annoyed with myself that I waited so long. What I loved about this, was that it wasn’t angsty. Sure, there’s tension between Sophia and Charles from the outset, but it’s NOT a Bella/Edward style romance. Sophia isn’t a sap, she’s assertive, she’s smart. She’s real. And as for Charles? Swoon.I liked the different aspects to this – the wicca in particular. It’s the first time I’ve read a book with a Wiccan element that was close to the truth of what the practice, religion, whatever you want to call it, is. It took me back to my teens anyway. I must admit, I did start to worry when vampires and the like were introduced, but luckily, it wasn’t overpowering.I can totally see why this has been optioned for film, and I really hope it goes that far. It would be awesome to see it translated to the big screen.Five stars and highly recommended. less

Great start (Wiccan heroine, hot mystery guy) but it lost me with the vampires.
