review 1: Beautifully melancholy reflection of depression and the lives that fall around it; every character interesting and relatable, even if not likable;I loved Emma and was glad the end of thee book was ambiguous in her relationship with faith - between her die hard Christianity and die hard atheism, more complex; when writer's often preach the latter when blaming the former for preaching - a far too easy trap to fall in. I did feel we should have read more about her; as she was such a lovely character introduced to us with relatively little screen time; but overall, brilliant.
review 2: Well worth the read. I found it took me a little while to get started with it but after that I loved it. The story of Emma, her two brothers - one of which has died - and her pare... morents. The problems of depression and the consequences for all of them of it. It felt to me as though it was written by someone who had more than a passing understanding of the subject to. One of the better books of the years so far. less
