review 1: While On Little Wings was an interesting read, I could not seem to totally devote myself to it. It was well written, with a good story line, wonderful setting and realistic characters, but I just couldn't quite connect with it. The story was one of love, life and lies, something that is fairly universal, but it didn't really leave me feeling touched or like it had a lasting impact. It might just be that I haven't dealt with such matters on a deep, personal scale yet, but this book left me wishing for more. More of what, I'm not exactly certain, but I do know that it didn't satisfy my every desire. And maybe that's okay. Maybe I'm trying to find the deeper stuff, when in reality that wasn't the point; after all, not every single book is going to be as earth-shatteringly ins... moreightful as my language arts teachers want me to believe. Even though I have some internal gripes about the book, I did think that On Little Wings was worth my time reading it and would read another novel by the author.
review 2: I definitely enjoyed this book. It's refreshing to find a YA novel--or any novel for that matter--with unnecessary sex, profanity, vulgarity, etc. No sparkly vampires, no werewolves, no teenager finding out he/she has special mind control powers or whatever; it's just a simple story that might happen to anyone in real life. The writing style is very pretty and in fact my only quibble is that it's a tiny bit overwritten and flowery at times. In sum, a simple and lovely story for young teens to adults. less

YA due to age of the protagonist and the issues that concern her. A book that adults will enjoy.
