review 1: Very interesting and unusual, but I'm not sure about the ending. This book could very well be a Japanese movie or drama. (Yes, I know, it's written by a Frenchman.) This could perhaps have gotten a higher rating if I had bothered to look up all the words I didn't understand (read it in French), but I felt like I could follow the story well enough anyway. That is, I found the book interesting but not terribly captivating.
